New Distance Learning Librarian

April 26, 2007 – 11:22 AM

Meet Lynn Cahoon, the new Distance Learning Librarian

Lynn may be new to her position, but she’s no stranger to the University of Georgia, having worked here for twenty one years, first at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, and then in the Main Library as Remote Reference Coordinator

Having completed her Master of Library and Information Science Degree at Valdosta
State University (an online program) in December 2006, Lynn is familiar with the challenges distance students face.

“My first goal is to let distance education faculty and students know that there are library services for them and that they don’t have to drive to Athens for assistance,” Lynn says. “We provide phone, email and IM reference services most days and will work one-on-one with students who need help with a class project or paper. We want professors to know that librarians are available to teach online instruction classes using live classroom software
